FIRST Robotics Scholarship Program
Scholarship Description
In support of the FIRST mission, University of Detroit Mercy is offering two $1,000 FIRST Scholarship to high school seniors interested in Robotics & Mechatronic Systems Engineering.
In addition to the FIRST Scholarship, students can become eligible for other Detroit Mercy academic scholarships. The application for admission to Detroit Mercy serves as the application for Detroit Mercy academic scholarships. Apply for admission at www.udmercy.edu/apply.
Eligibility
To become eligible for the FIRST Scholarship, you must:
- Be a senior in high school.
- Have participated on a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team or a FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team.
- Apply and be admitted to Detroit Mercy as a full-time student majoring in any Engineering program or Computer Science.
- Have a minimum ACT of 23 or a combined SAT score of at least 1000 and a GPA of at least a 3.0.
Scholarship Renewability
The FIRST Scholarship is renewable up to a total of $4,000 over four years as long as the following criteria are met:
- Students must remain in good academic standing according to the University’s Scholarship Renewal Policy.
- Maintain continuous, full-time enrollment.
Scholarship Application Package
To apply for the FIRST Scholarship, complete the application package, including:
- Detroit Mercy FIRST Scholarship Application.
- Submit a 500-word essay about how your FIRST experience has influenced your career goals.
- Submit a letter of recommendation from an adult mentor/coach on your FIRST team.
The completed FIRST Scholarship application package must be received by May 1st. Students can mail, fax, or email documents to:
