What influenced your decision to serve on the Board?
Provide additional perspective as a Women Engineer and serve as advocate to our youth to pursue degrees in the STEM field at University of Detroit Mercy.
Biographical Profile:
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Diana E. Ortega is currently the Quality Launch Manager for the 2016 Chevrolet Volt at the Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Center. In this role she is responsible for achieving quality targets and leads a quality team. She holds a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint. Additional to her role as a Manager she serves as a Board Member on GM’s Hispanic Employee Resource Group, “GM HIT” since 2011 and also leads the GM SHPE recruiting Team. In 2014 she was recognized by GM as a member of HACR’s YHCA Program which promotes young Hispanics in Corporate America who have shown exceptional leadership qualities, capabilities within their respective corporations and have demonstrated a commitment to the Hispanic community. Additionally, in October of 2014 Diana was elected President of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Detroit Professional Chapter. In November 2014, General Motors as the Visionary sponsor, participated in SHPE’s National Conference in Detroit marking SHPE 40th Anniversary. Over 95 employees were engaged in various activities of the conference. As the SHPE Chapter President, she serves as a role model in the Latino community providing mentorship to young Professional Engineers in the local Detroit community. Diana E. Ortega is a mother of two children and resides in Allen Park, MI with her husband and family.
