The Dean approached me and convinced me that input and experience from our industry was valuable and needed to help shape future path of the college.
Biographical Profile:
Joe Margevicius has spent the last 41 years as part of the construction industry, joining Walbridge in 1974. His career has spanned a variety of projects from a $750 million research and development facility for Chrysler, to a parking garage for a local hospital. He has been intimately involved in all areas of the industry, from field layout and supervision, to estimating, accounting, contracts, operations, project engineering and management, sales, marketing, forecasting and planning, to now managing one of Walbridge’s successful subsidiaries, Walbridge Equipment Installation. (WEI) Joe was tapped at the outset, in 1994, tor transition the asset purchase of Belding Corporation into a vibrant, growing, specialty contractor of equipment installation services. From first year sales of under $2 million, WEI has grown into a nationally recognized supplier in the automotive, power, metals, energy, and general manufacturing industries, with sales exceeding $50 million annually. Joe is a registered professional engineer in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Illinois. He holds the corporate builders license in Michigan, Nevada, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, West Virginia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. He has authored and co-authored several published articles and professional works, has been quoted in industry publications, and has written and taught several in-house training courses. He was awarded a U.S. Patent for Electrical Tower Lifting Stand System (co-inventor). Joe received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1977, and Master of Engineering Management in 1981, both from the University of Detroit.
