Electrical and Computer Engineering
Graduate Student Assistant Position
A TARDEC (Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center) funded graduate assistant position at the D.Eng. or Master's level is available in the Advanced Mobility Lab (AML) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy.
You are qualified if you are a U.S. Citizen, have an excellent academic record and a B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering from an accredited University. You should also be effective when working as part of a research team, and have high level language programming skills.
Candidates should have an interest in the study of mobile robotic vehicles and systems.
Topical areas of study can include:
- vehicle localization, path planning & navigation
- image processing
- statistical filtering (kalman, particle etc.)
- sensor data fusion
- hardware/software interfacing
Useful background and skills include C programming in a Linux or OS X Unix environment, skill with Matlab programming, and embedded device interface design and coding.
D. Eng. candidates should have an undergraduate or preferably a Master’s degree in electrical and/or computer engineering although all outstanding students will be considered. Master’s degree candidates students should have an undergraduate degree in electrical and/or computer engineering.
