Minors in the College of Engineering & Science

At the University of Detroit Mercy we realize you may have interests outside your declared major.  Whether you are in the College of Engineering & Science or not, you can choose and declare a minor in another subject area.  Your minor will also appear on your university transcript.

Be sure to talk to your academic advisor and review the requirements for a minor.

Minors in the College of Engineering & Science:

Actuarial Science Minor

An Actuary Science minor offers a blend of courses in statistics, mathematics, business and economics.

Applied Mathematics Minor

A minor in Applied Mathematics helps demonstrate your ability to think critically, logically, and creatively.  In applied mathematics, the primary motivational factors are scientific, technological, computational, or social, with an emphasis on practical application and usefulness to other disciplines.

Bioinformatics Minor

Bioinformatics is a new and rapidly evolving discipline that has emerged from the fields of Molecular Biology and Computer Science.

Computer Science Minor

A minor in Computer Science will complement any field of study with computing knowledge and promote computational thinking enabling you to apply computing skills to your prospective field.

Entrepreneurship Minor

The Entrepreneurship minor allows you to investigate techniques of innovation and creativity, product development, venture creation and business plan development with a theme of social entrepreneurship.

Mathematics Minor

A minor in Applied Mathematics helps demonstrate your ability to think critically, logically, and creatively.  In pure mathematics, the primary motivational factors are aesthetic and philosophical, with an emphasis on inner coherence, rigor, beauty, and abstraction.
