Why Civil / Environmental Engineering?

Civil Engineers are rated as the happiest type of engineer. In fact, compared to all professions, CE compares well to everyone from medical doctors to astronauts.

The reasons they are happy are that Civil Engineers:

Do Civil and Environmental Engineers earn as much as other engineers, astronauts and MDs?

men

No. CEs earn a little less than other engineers. However, CEs still earn very good pay.

Having good pay is important for happiness, and CEs earn a lot. Most people want money because it helps them become happy. CE's slightly smaller pay is more than made up for by the many other benefits of the job which make CEs happier.

Most Engineers become wealthy no matter what type of engineer they are. Would you rather be a happy engineer, or an unhappy engineer with slight higher pay?

What is Civil & Environmental Engineering?

Civil and Environmental Engineering is the most diverse engineering field. Depending on who you work for you may work on: airports, bridges, buildings, canals, dams, environmental cleanup, excavations, harbors, highways, industrial facilities, landfills, Navy Seabees construction or demolition, piers, pipelines, reservoirs, roads, site planning, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment plants.

Usually CEs get to work on many of these things. This is because Civil Engineers and the firms they work for are very diverse. They go from one project to the next, reforming their employees into new teams for new projects.
