The field study, co-authored by 3 Salvadoran biology undergraduates, uses the theory of island biogeography to describe the diversity of birds in urban green-spaces in San Salvador.

One of the exciting applications to come out of the study is that the shape of urban parks totally correlated with the number bird species present – which is just a fantastic excuse to explore joint initiatives between biologists and green-architects/environmental civil engineers.
