New Assistant Deans for Academics

August 01, 2017

It is with great pleasure that Interim Dean Katherine Snyder announces the Assistant Deans for Academics for the College of Engineering & Science - Carolyn Rimle (Engineering) and Liz Roberts-Kirchhoff (Science).

Rimle will begin in the position August 1, 2017 and Roberts-Kirchhoff will start after her sabbatical at the end of December.

Rimle, who previously served as Assistant Dean in Engineering & Science from 1991-2000, has been working as the Director of Transfer Programs for Engineering and for the Office of the Registrar as the Co-Director of Transfer Credit and Degree Audit.

Her deep understanding of engineering curricula, student-centered support, transfer student needs, and the core curriculum will be tremendously important as we work to continue to increase Engineering enrollment while we highlight the benefits of our co-op program (2nd oldest in the U.S.) and project-based curriculum that can respond flexibly to the needs of our many industry partners.

Dr. Liz Roberts-KirchhoffRoberts-Kirchhoff, a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, has also served as the University’s Director for Assessment.

Her experience with online instruction, undergraduate research, and successful grant writing will be extremely valuable as we leverage our reputation for high quality academics and relevant experiential learning to continue to secure high profile grants, and attract students by helping them to be competitive applicants to professional programs, graduate schools, and jobs in industry.

Roberts-Kirchhoff’s interest and experience with best practices in online education, and integration of research into the undergraduate curriculum will help to improve the undergraduate and graduate experience that helps to differentiate us from our competitors.

Rimle and Roberts-Kirchhoff bring a wealth of experience that will benefit the College.

Please welcome them to their new roles.
