Detroit Mercy welcomes ReBUILDetroit scholars

June 26, 2017

The ReBUILDetroit program at Detroit Mercy welcomes its third cohort of scholars for the Summer Enrichment Program today.

Twenty-two scholars from metro Detroit, Ypsilanti, and Western Michigan will spend the next seven weeks transitioning from high school to university.

Scholars will experience lectures and laboratory experiments in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.  In addition, scholars will sharpen their time-management and study skills as they prepare for the rigors of academic life.

The ReBUILDetroit program is funded by a National Institutes of Health (NIH) $21.2 million grant over five years to transform undergraduate education and prepare scholars for exciting careers in biomedical research.

Detroit Mercy is the lead institution in the consortium which consists of Marygrove College and Wayne State University.  Currently, there are 65 scholars at Detroit Mercy who are in the ReBUILDetroit program.

The program is entering its fourth year.
