College of Engineering & Science Dean emeritus, Leo Hanifin, along with several board members of M-1 Rail tour the Pennsylvania factory building Detroit’s new streetcars.

“They look great,” said Hanifin. “You can see the form of the vehicle coming together.”

Hanifin worked with students to draft a preliminary plan for mass transit along the Woodward corridor in 2007.

“For me, personally, it was very satisfying to see the vehicles produced” after years of planning, said Hanifin.
