For rising Biology sophomore and ReBUILDetroit scholar, Relicious Eboh, giving back to the community and encouraging middle school students to exercise and eat healthy is second nature.

“I want to help change the future of Detroit and its communities,” says Eboh.  “There are no supermarkets in this neighborhood.  This makes it nearly impossible for anyone to eat fresh produce.  It is so important to encourage these 7thand 8th graders to lead healthy lifestyles so they can concentrate on their school work.”

Eboh joined an event hosted by Detroit Mercy’s Campus Kitchen at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School in Detroit on June 2.

“Campus Kitchen provided games and healthy snacks for the kids,” says Eboh.  “Each student received a grocery bag full of nutritious food for their whole family.”

Eighteen students, faculty, staff and alumni from UDM volunteered for the after-school Service Day event.

Eboh is founder and president of the Black Student Union on UDM’s campus.
