Congratulations to Wendy Bair, Shelby Maurice, Grace Nguyen, Justin Pothoof, Sara Tinawi, Jenna Payne, Shantelle. Anderson, Sara Makki, Michelle Y. Wu, Sabrina Baghaie, and Sara Thomas along with Dr. Mark Benvenuto and Dr. Liz Roberts-Kirchhoff for presenting at the Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Covington, Kentucky earlier this month.

"The students had a great time at the talks and poster sessions," says Dr. Mark Benvenuto.  "I am impressed how well they fielded questions that folks asked when their posters were up."

"Undergraduate science and engineering students have many opportunities to be engaged in research with their professors," says Dean Gary Kuleck.  "This is a hallmark of our college."

The posters presented include:

  1. W. Bair, S. Maurice, and M.A. Benvnuto.  Analysis of a series of dietary supplements via energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (EDXRF), presented at the 47th American Chemical Society Central Regional Meeting,Covington, KY, 18-21 May 2016, abstract 158.
  2. G. Nguyen, J. Pothoof, S. Tinawi, and M.A. Benvenuto.  Synthesis of a series of long-chain molecules for use as possible water remediation chelators, presented at the 47th American Chemical Society Central Regional Meeting,Covington, KY, 18-21 May 2016, abstract 215.
  3. J. Payne and M.A. Benvenuto.  Production of  series of multi-dentate podand ligands and incorporation into plastics for use as potential metal chelators, presented at the 47th American Chemical Society Central Regional Meeting,Covington, KY, 18-21 May 2016, abstract 216.
  4. S. Anderson, S. Makki, and M.A. Benvenuto.  Synthesis of a series of bis-bi-dentate ligands for metal complexation trials, presented at the 47th American Chemical Society Central Regional Meeting, Covington, KY, 18-21 May 2016, abstract 217.
  5. M.Y. Wu, S. Baghaie, S. Thomas, M.A. Benvenuto, and E. Roberts-Kirchhoff, Analysis of ground spices with a handheld X-ray fluorescence analyzer, presented at the 47th American Chemical Society Central Regional Meeting,Covington, KY, 18-21 May 2016, abstract 496.
