Rev up your engines for learning

High school students interested in transportation engineering can “gear up” their skills and knowledge by participating in the TRANSIT Smart Moves program, July 6 to 17.

Students working on project during TRANSIT summer camp.This two-week program open to high school students in 9th to 12thgrade will engage in hands-on activities, labs and discussions to learn about:

  • The science behind bridge design, highway safety and magnetic levitation,
  • Alternative fuels,
  • Smart cars and how they communicate with smart highways.

Labs and discussions are lead by university professors, high school teachers and industry leaders from places like Michigan Department of Transportation, Ford Motor Company and the Oakland County Road Commission.

This program is generously funded by the Mineta National Transit Research Consortium.
