NSF grant report on STEM women in the workplace submitted

November 09, 2017

For the past three years, a faculty team of researchers from Detroit Mercy examined workplace climate especially as experience by women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The research team includes Dr. Kathy Zhong (PI), Dr. Pamela Zarkowski (co-PI), Dr. Dawn Archey (co-PI), Dr. Linda Haynes Slowik (co-PI) and Dr. Kathleen Zimmerman-Oster (co-PI).

The final report and project outcomes were submitted to the NSF last month.

The research focused on the needs of women STEM faculty and developing strategies to address their unique challenges as well as challenges common to all faculty.

“This doesn't mean our work is completely finished,” said Archey.  “We are still working on a research paper to disseminate our results.”
