Alumnus pursuing graduate degree interns at NASA

Witold FuchsWitold Fuchs ’16 biochemistry will be starting a seven-week summer internship at NASA in Huntsville, AL.

Fuchs recently completed is first year in graduate school at the University of Southern Mississippi, School of Polymers and High Performance Materials.

At NASA, he will be working on epoxy based composites.

“This is a really good way to kick start my research,” said Fuchs.  “They [NASA] are the worldwide experts in the field.  Working with the NASA scientists will really improve my research further on.”

Fuchs is working on his Ph.D. with research advisor and mentor Dr. Jeffery Wiggins at Southern Mississippi.

“I want to work in industry,” said Fuchs.  “I want to manage, lead projects and drive innovation.  It’s really important to have people who are leading researchers who know the science behind it.  They know what’s important.”

Fuchs is the second student with a Detroit Mercy connection to have a summer internship at NASA this year.
