The development of a transit solution along Woodward Avenue in Detroit has its roots in the College of Engineering & Science.

In 2007, John Hertel, CEO of the Regional Transit Coordinating Council contacted the College about creating a transportation feasibility study.  Later that same year, co-authors Dr. Leo Hanifin, Dr. Alan Hoback and Scott Anderson from the College and others from Detroit Mercy and elsewhere presented the "Woodward Transit Catalyst Project."

The study projected the cost to be slightly over $100 million for the 3.4 mile line.

The QLine will be official dedicated on May 12.  A weekend of festivities and free rides is scheduled.
