Architectural Engineer competes in NCAA Fencing Championships
For the first time since 2011, the University of Detroit Mercy fencing program is competing at the NCAA Fencing National Championship with sophomore Algird Szumlas (Glendora, Calif.) set to go against the top collegiate foilists in the nation Thursday and Friday, March 23-24.
The national championship is being hosted by the Indiana Sports Corporation and the University of Notre Dame at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum just outside of Indianapolis, Ind. The men's foil competition begins at 9 a.m. both Thursday and Friday.
Szumlas is a sophomore in Architectural Engineering.
