College faculty receive mission grants

Three College of Engineering & Science faculty are recipients of a Mission Micro Grant Program.

Klaus Friedrich (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry): Student-led science outreach events at high schools in the Detroit Public School (DPS) system.

Gary Hillebrand (Physics): Student-led publicizing of Sacred Heart Pediatrics, a new low-income pediatrics practice in the neighborhood of Livernois and I-96. 

Yasha Parvini (Department of Mechanical Engineering): Campus presentation on the environmental stewardship of electric vehicles and their use of supercapacitors.

Lakeshia Richardson (Pre-College Programs): Winter wear for children in Detroit Mercy’s surrounding communities.

The Mission Micro Grant Program awards annual grants of up to $200 to any full- or part-time UDM faculty or staff member in support of activities that promote Detroit Mercy’s mission of being a Catholic, Mercy, Jesuit, urban, and student-centered university.
