Chemistry event is a blast - Twice!

December 07, 2016

“Science doesn’t always work the way you think it’s going to,” says sophomore Chemistry student Danielle Maxwell.

The annual Liquid Nitrogen Ping-Pong event sponsored by the Chemistry Club ran into a slight problem when the first attempt wouldn’t explode on Tuesday.

About 50 students, faculty and staff braved the cold December temperatures and rain to watch the annual event.

The event is a fund raising event for the Chemistry Club, which sells cups, bowls and tape to catch raining down Ping-Pong balls.

Cups or bowls that remain upright with a ball, win a cash prize.

Cups were placed strategically throughout the courtyard, second-story windowsills and on top of table umbrellas.

Watch the video to see how high the Ping-Pong balls reached.
