Detroit Mercy welcomes robotics competition

The College of Engineering & Science hosts the Detroit FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifier in the Engineering High Bay this weekend.

Eighteen elementary and middle schools are competing in the district robotics qualifier event.

Modeled after school sports programs, each Michigan FIRST Robotics team participates in two qualifying tournaments, called district events.

Following the district events, the teams are ranked and the top 64 move on to a State Championship.

Top teams may advance to regional events held in Iowa and St. Louis in March and April, 2017.

Southwest Detroit Lighthouse Charter
Auburn Hills Christian School
P.D. Chatterton Middle School
