Engineering student receives Automotive Women's Alliance Foundation Award

Melissa Kutchey, junior in mechanical engineering, received a $2,500 scholarship from the Automotive Women's Alliance Foundation (AWAF) sponsored by Cox Automotive last month.

Melissa KutcheyKutchey’s interest lies in fuel efficiency and reducing the impact of vehicles on the environment.

She is part of the Shell Eco-Marathon and SAE Supermileage teams whose vehicle accomplished an astonishing 581 miles per gallon.

This past summer, Kutchey’s co-op placement was with Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA) where she was part of the body electro-mechanical group working on roofing and aero systems.

Kutchey is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and Alpha Phi Omega Service fraternity volunteering with many local organizations.  She is an alumna of Howell High School in Howell, Michigan.
