University of Detroit Mercy welcomes GM Student Corps

The College of Engineering & Science will be well represented at the GM Student Corps Day in the ‘D’ at the McNichols campus today. #UDMGMStuCorps

More than 120 high school students from Detroit metropolitan area, Flint and Pontiac descend on campus to learn about UDM and what to expect in university.

GM Student Corp 2015

The College of Engineering & Science will feature 9 projects in the “create, enhance and innovate” demonstrations from students and faculty highlighting the College.

“We are really excited to feature the projects are students are working on,” says Pam Todd, director of pre-college programs.  “The projects feature the variety of disciplines within the College from a high mileage vehicle, assistive technology, robotics, chemistry, computer science and alternative energy.  We are very thankful for all the faculty and students who were able to make time to participate during the summer.”

The event begins at 8:30 am as President Dr. Antoine Garibaldi welcomes students to campus followed by guest speaker Cliff Russell from 910 am radio.  Matt Ybarra ’16, General Motors Manager of the Student Corp Program will provide welcoming remarks from General Motors.

The GM Student Corp will visit the highbay at 9:30 am for demonstrations.
