First week of STEPS Camp ends in a bang

July 15, 2016

High school girls attending the Science Technology Engineering Preview Summer Camp for Girls (STEPS) summer camp at Detroit Mercy had a busy first week.

The week’s competitions included the tallest tower constructed of spaghetti and marshmallows, how much weight a paper and duct tape boat hold and work with senors and robots.

On Friday, participants took a field trip to Rave Cave in Sterling Heights to experience first-hand virtual reality.

Joining the girls at Rave Cave was WDIV reporter, Paula Tutman.  See her story on WDIV.

The first week ended on a high note with a demonstration of liquid nitrogen and hot soapy water.

Week two of the camp will feature robotic competitions.
