Summer STEM program for middle school students begins

June 20, 2016

The Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) welcomes more than 60 middle school students to the Summer Experience at Detroit Mercy’s College of Engineering & Science today.

The program provides hands-on activities to explore the fields of computer science, mathematics, physics, science computer-aided design (CAD) and engineering.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in a stimulating and innovating learning experience,” says Arneshia Austin, pre-college program director.

In addition to learning about core principles in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), students will explore career opportunities in these fields.

The four-week program culminates with a final project involving design and production using CAD software presented at the closing ceremony on July 20.
