Twenty-eight Chemistry students attended and presented their research in San Diego at the American Chemical Society (ACS) earlier this month.

Students of Dr. Mark Benvenuto presented the following research:

  1. Jenna Payne, Jennifer Roehl, Mark Benvenuto.  Synthesis of a series of multi-dentate podand ligands and initial complexation trials with transition metal cations

  2. Sara Tinawi and Mark Benvenuto.  Synthesis of a series of novel molecules utilizing 2,6-diaminotoluene, 1,3-diaminobenzene, or 2,5-diaminopyridine

  3. Grace Nguyen, Justin Pothoof, and Mark Benvenuto.  Analysis of a series of silver coins of King Azes via energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (EDXRF)

  4. Jenna Payne, Jennifer Roehl, Grace Nguyen, Justin Pothoof, Sara Tinawi, Shelby Maurice, Roby Wong and Mark Benvenuto. Analysis of a group of possibly counterfeit ancient coins via energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (EDXRF)

  5. Sabrina Baghaie, S.L. Thomas, Michelle Wu, Mark A. Benvenuto, and Elizabeth Roberts-Kirchhoff.  Analysis of ground turmeric samples with a hand-held X-ray fluorescence analyzer

Congratulations on a job well done!
