Kick-off of Engineering Society of Detroit student chapter

November 04, 2015

About 30 undergraduates attended the inaugural meeting for the student chapter of The Engineering Society of Detroit  (ESD) today.

ESD Executive Director Robert Magee encouraged students to take advantage of what ESD has to offer.

“We provide the bridge and fill any gaps between your education and transition into the workplace,” says Magee.  “ESD offers you connections, information and networks.”

Michigan boosts the number 1 state for engineering jobs.  Magee says, “We want to keep it that way.”

“Our goal is for you to have four or five job opportunities waiting for you when you graduate,” says Magee.

Faculty advisor for the student chapter, Dr. Darrell Kleinke, is excited about the opportunities joining with the mission of the University to assist people with disabilities.

The executive of the student chapter is:

President: Shannon Donahue, sophomore mechanical engineering,
Vice-President: Zachary Arnold, sophomore electrical engineering,
Vice-President: Melissa Ramirez, sophomore mechanical engineering, and
Vice-President: Elliott Fernandes, senior mechanical engineering
