Dean's visit to China lands joint agreements

October 26, 2015

Officials from the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) finalized joint agreements with five Chinese universities during a visit to China last month.

Under the agreements, Chinese engineering students will complete their final undergraduate year(s) at the McNichols campus and will continue with their graduate work at UDM, if they qualify.

The team comprised of Dean Gary Kulek and Dr. Shuvra Das from the College of Engineering & Science along with Associate Dean Victoria Mantzopolous from the College of Liberal Arts who visited five Chinese universities.

Students are enthusiastic about the opportunity to come to UDM,” says Das.  “They are eager to come to Detroit.  They recognize the importance our region serves in the engineering world.

We are excited about the opportunity for Chinese students to complete their degrees at UDM,” says Kuleck.  “Our engineering programs are world-renowned in part to the work of faculty, students and alumni.

The first Chinese students are expected to arrive at UDM in the Fall, 2017.
