Mathematics
The Mathematics programs offer both applied and pure math courses that provide a sound basis for graduate study and for career opportunities in industry and in education as teachers of mathematics at middle and high schools. For more, see the Mathematics Programs page.
Computer Science

Committment
We are committed to excellence in instruction in mathematics and mathematics-related disciplines. The Department is recognized within the UDM community and nationally for a caring and innovative teaching of both mathematics and computer science majors, and for supporting mathematics courses for those pursuing other studies.
One of the recent innovations of the Department has been the adoption of symbolic manipulation systems for the entire spectrum of mathematics offerings.
Project Challenge
The Department is actively committed to the Project Challenge Project of the University of Detroit Mercy, whereby students starting in the ninth grade work to prepare themselves for the college environment. The Department works with the UAW and GM, Ford, and Chrysler to give workers in these organizations opportunity for undergraduate and graduate study. It has been an active participant in other efforts to provide opportunities to "disadvantaged" students.
